Tom F. Park Jr., 77, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, at the VA Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born Sept. 11, 1922, in Okolona, Ark., son of Tom F. and Belle Tarpley Park Sr.
Park had been superintendent at Malden and Portageville Public Schools. He also coached football, basketball and track in Dyess, Ark. He led the Dyess junior basketball team to a state championship.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a prisoner of war in Germany. He received a Purple Heart and Good Conduct Medal.
Survivors include two sons, Sam Park of Los Angeles, Calif., Britt Park of Houston, Texas; a daughter, Dana Park of St. Louis; two sisters, Rhelda Ebert of Iowa, Helen Parker of Ashdown, Ark.; and three grandchildren.
Friends may call at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia, Ark., from 6-8 p.m. Thursday.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Weir Cemetery near Okolona.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday at Landess Funeral Home in Malden.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until service time.
