DEXTER -- Tom Davis, 78, of Idalia, died Monday, Oct. 13, 1997, at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center in Dexter.
He was born Oct. 21, 1918, near Essex, son of Claude Edward and Grace Snyder Davis.
He married Margaret Hilderbrand on Jan. 27, 1939, in Charleston. She survives.
He had lived in Tipton, Ind., for 30 years and moved back to Idalia in 1979. He was a retired section hand on the Nickle Plate Line Railroad. He was a member of the Circle City Pentecost Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, J.D. Davis, Troy Davis and Terry Davis, all of Idalia; two daughters, Margaret Ann Williams of Indianapolis, Ind., and Shirley Ann Brown of New Madrid; a sister, Alma Arnett of Sullivan, Ind.; 16 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sons, a daughter, two brothers and a sister.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Doyle Corlew of Essex officiating.
Interment will be in the Bloomfield Cemetery in Bloomfield.
