Timothy Frederick Ruddy, 80, of Cape Girardeau passed away Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2018, at his home, with his family by his side.
He was born July 9, 1938, in St. Louis to the late William Henry and Lucille Misfeldt Ruddy. He and Linda Musso were married July 2, 1966, in Edwardsville, Illinois.
Tim received an undergraduate degree from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale and graduated from Washington University Law School in St. Louis. He began his law career in 1964 in Indianapolis, later moving to Cape Girardeau, where he practiced at Spradling and Spradling. He then went into private practice, retiring in 2005.
Tim enjoyed bicycling and playing tennis and was an avid reader and gardener. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Ruddy of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Elizabeth R. Toftemark of O'Fallon, Illinois, and Margaret Ruddy (Todd Collins) of Golden, Colorado; a son, Fred (Jessica) Ruddy of Shelbyville, Kentucky; and seven grandchildren, Katherine Toftemark, Eric Toftemark, Payton Ruddy, Stephen Ruddy, Lillie Ruddy, Allison Collins and Emily Collins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, Lars E. Toftemark.
Tim's wishes were to have his body donated to the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
