Timothy Lynn Hester, 49, of Columbia, Mo., passed away peacefully Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, at his home, with his loving wife by his side. His battle with cancer is over.

He was born Feb. 4, 1964, in Cape Girardeau, to Doug and Betty Hester. On June 18, 1988, he married Debbie Engelen at St. John's Catholic Church in Leopold, Mo. He graduated from Scott City High School in 1982. He was an Air Ordnance man in the U.S. Navy, serving his country from 1986 to 1990. Tim was employed by Aflac as a sales representative. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, known to his friends as "The Trout King." He also loved vacationing in Florida with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie; two children, Josh and Abby; his mother, Betty Hester of Cape Girardeau; three brothers, Doug Jr. (Darlene) of Scott City, David (Shelley) of St. Charles, Mo., and Robert (Erica) of Cape Girardeau; one sister, Beverly (Tom) Lorenz of Virginia Beach, Va.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home, with parish prayers at 7 p.m. Knights of Columbus rosary to immediately follow.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Cathedral in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Tom Kiefer officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery.
