EAST PRAIRIE -- Thurman L. "Jap" Matthews, 60, East Prairie Route 1, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 1994, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

He was born Feb. 1, 1934, in East Prairie, son of Kilmer and Agnes Cooper Matthews.

Matthews was a lifelong resident of Mississippi County, and a retired farmer.

Survivors include a brother, J.E. Matthews of East Prairie; three sisters, LaVern Brown, Magdalene Manning and Ruth Myers, all of East Prairie.

He was preceded in death by a sister.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Shelby Funeral Chapel. The Rev. James Bolden will officiate, with burial in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. today.
