Thurman Blyzes

Thurman Michael "Mike" Blyzes, 70, of Friedheim passed away Thursday, Feb. 8, 2024, at his home.

He was born Aug. 20, 1953, in St. Louis City to Thurman E. and Mandy Hammontree Blyzes.

Thurman was a retired locomotive engineer for BNSF Railroad.

He loved hot rodding whatever vehicles he had. He loved Corvettes, boats and tractors. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. Thurman was very kind and loved helping others. He was also a great storyteller.

Survivors include two sons, Thurman "Adam" Blyzes and Curtis (Salena) Blyzes; brother, William T. (Donna) Blyzes; sister, Mary Belle Wright; and three grandchildren, Avery, Christian and Alivia Blyzes.

Thurman was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Orville Ray Blyzes.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, and from 8 to 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 16, at Ford and Young Funeral Home in Perryville.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 16, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Brandon Tanksley officiating. Burial will be at Dogwood Cemetery in East Prairie.
