SIKESTON -- Thomas W. Ayers Jr., 80, of Sikeston, died Monday, July 3, 1995, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
He was born May 18, 1915, in New Madrid County, son of Thomas W. and Susan Morrow Ayers Sr. He and Violet Lee Wilburn were married Jan. 31, 1936, in New Madrid.
Ayers was an electrical line construction worker many years. He was a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union in West Frankfort, Ill.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Buford and Ralph Ayers of Sikeston, Eugene Ayers of St. Charles, David Ayers of Maplewood; a daughter, Melba Cannon of Farmington; two brothers, Royce Ayers of Sikeston, Glen Ayers of Dexter; a nephew raised in the home, Sonny Cooper of New Madrid; 11 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Dale McFarland officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
