Thomas E. Taylor, 88, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, April 18, 2002, at the Lutheran Home.
He was born April 12, 1914, in Cape Girardeau, son of Thomas Franklin and Elizabeth Kirksey Taylor. He and Dorothy J. "Johnny" Green were married Sept. 27, 1935, in Cape Girardeau. She died July 28, 2000.
Taylor was a lifelong resident of Cape Girardeau. He worked at the U.S. Post Office in Cape Girardeau 34 years, serving as supervisor from 1972 until retiring in 1975. He was a member of First Baptist Church, VFW Post 3838, and American Legion Post 63.
He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. He received the Purple Heart and three Bronze Stars.
Survivors include a son, Michael Taylor of Ventura, Calif.; two granddaughters; and four great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 9-10 a.m. Monday.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park, with military graveside rites by VFW Post 3838 and Missouri Military Honor Guard.
