CUMMING, Ga. -- Former Cape Girardeau businessman Thomas O. Millburg, 78, of Cumming went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, March 10, 2017.
He was born Jan. 31, 1939, in Pawnee, Illinois, first son to Bernhard and Merle-Ree Millburg.
He graduated from Morrisonville (Illinois) High School and served four years in the U.S. Air Force.
He was married Sept. 18, 1965, to Judy Clark Millburg.
He was a loving, protective father to Lisa ("How's my No. 1 daughter?") (Eric) Mohesky of Cumming and Sheila Millburg Hood ("How's my little darling?") of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and cool grandfather to Reese, Ryan, Sydney, Ellen and Easton.
His mother, Merle-Ree of Taylorville, Georgia; brothers, Ted and Terry of Taylorville; sisters, Joyce and Janice of Morrisonville and Jill of Jacksonville, Florida; plus many nieces and nephews survive.
Tom and Judy founded Cape Communications in Cape Girardeau in 1977 and retired together July 1, 2004. In 2005, they moved to Cumming.
Tom loved cruising the Tennessee and Cumberland rivers on his boat, "Blue Highways." Therefore, he invested in Moon Bay Harbor Resort, a community of caring, supportive nature lovers.
Tom supported Navigators Ministry for 30 years. His daughters spent many summers at their camps, serving, learning and teaching young people how to walk in the ways of our Lord Jesus Christ and not the ways of this world.
"OK," as Tom always said, "Judy, this is no hill for a climber."
A graveside memorial service will be at 2 p.m. April 2 at St. Maurice Cemetery in Morrisonville.
Family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. April 2 at the Morrisonville Knights of Columbus Hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Navigators Discipleship, P.O. Box 6000, Colorado Springs, CO 80903, or a charity of your choice.
Condolences may be expressed at www.mcdonaldandson.com.
McDonald and Son Funeral Home of Cumming is in charge of arrangements.
