Thomas J. LeGrand, 72, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2023, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
He will be missed as a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and friend.
He was born March 18, 1951, in Cape Girardeau, son of Ben and Lucille Fredrick LeGrand. He and Brenda DeBrock LeGrand were married May 19, 1973, in Chaffee, Missouri.
Tom co-owned and operated LeGrand's Transmissions on Water Street for more than 50 years. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau and Knights of Columbus Council No. 1111 since 1969. He graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1969 and Southeast Missouri State University in 1973.
Survivors include his wife of Cape Girardeau; four sons, Ben LeGrand of St. Louis, Luke LeGrand of Jackson and Nathan and Clayton LeGrand of Cape Girardeau; three brothers, Ron, Dave and Darryl LeGrand; four sisters, Yvonne Finnegan, Karen Golden, Yvette West and Tammy Jordan; and seven grandchildren, Matt, Peter, Henry, Oliver, Frances, Theo and Owen.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Samuel, Michael, Stephen and Joseph LeGrand; and two sisters, Carol Ann Lemons and Catherine Nell LeGrand.
Tom made a selfless decision to donate his body for the advancement of science to Genesis Medical Education and Research Institute.
A memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 22, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with the Rev. Rick Jones officiating. The Knights of Columbus No. 1111 will say a memorial rosary at 9:30 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul School, Jessica LeGrand Scholarship Fund at Notre Dame Regional High School or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
