Thomas Dennis Hopper, 77, of Scott City died Friday, June 23, 2006, at the Life Care Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Jan. 11, 1929, at Illmo, son of William Benjamin and Bridget O. "Biddie" Dailey Hopper. He married Dorothy Sue Kjer on May 20, 1950, at Piggott, Ark. She preceded him in death on Dec. 3, 1983.
Mr. Hopper worked as a driller for West Lake Quarry until his retirement and a member of Labor Local 282 in Cape Girardeau. He was also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City.
He is survived by one son, Erik D. Hopper of Olivehurst, Calif.; seven daughters, Nancy (Larry) Smith and Dorothy (Chester) Howard of Chaffee, Mo., Karen Halter, Bridget (Rodney) Benson and Martha Hopper, all of Scott City, Denise (Michael) Turner of Ozark, Ark., and Pamela (Jim) Job of Kelso, Mo.; four sisters, Alma Crader of Scott City, Martha Dunger of St. Louis, Willie Janesko of Waterloo, Ill., and B. Rose Goehman of Cape Girardeau; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, two great-grandchildren, four brothers and one sister.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. David Coon Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
