SIKESTON -- Funeral for Thomas Edward Holmes of Sikeston will be held at 2 p.m. today at First United Pentecostal Church, with the Revs. Gaylon Butler, Richard Whitman and Billie Butler officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Ponder Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Holmes, 72, died Sunday, July 5, 1998, at Clearview Nursing Center.
He was born March 2, 1926, in Lake County, Tenn., son of William H. and Cordie Bell Lovelace Holmes. He and Linnie Quinn were married Sept. 29, 1947.
Holmes was a self-employed masonry contractor. He was a member of First United Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Demetria Ryan of Conroe, Texas, Brenda Wendel of Poplar Bluff, Glenda Holmes of Denver, Colo., Melody Prino of Oran; four brothers, J.W. Holmes of Grand Rivers, Ky., Donald Holmes of Johnathan Creek, Ky., Albert Holmes of Pirates Cove, Ky., Dewey Holmes of Bloomfield; a sister, Clara Williams of Chattanooga, Tenn.; a half sister, Alta Johns of Jackson; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son.
