Thomas Darwin Hightower, 71, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Qulin, Mo., died Friday, Oct. 12, 2007, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
Hightower was born July 17, 1936, in Clarkton, Mo. He was a member of the Qulin American Legion and of the Baptist faith. He served 20 years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean and Vietnam wars. After retiring from the Navy, he worked in maintenance at Twin Rivers School at Qulin. He had also worked as a chef.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas Darwin Hightower Jr. and Andrew C. Hightower, both of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; a sister, Melba Medlin of Cape Girardeau; and a granddaughter.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at the White-Sanders Funeral Home in Fisk, Mo., with the Rev. Jim Sanders officiating. Burial will be in Brown Chapel Cemetery in Qulin with full military honors.
