SIKESTON, Mo. -- Funeral for Thomas Hilton Grady will be held at 11 a.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home. The Rev. Rick Lasley will officiate. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery, with full military honors by the New Madrid American Legion Post.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until time of service.
Grady, 94, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Oct. 4, 1907, in Union City, Tenn., son of Samuel and Jessie Grady. He and Maggie Lee Hazel were married April 13, 1941. She died Sept. 13, 1987.
Grady owned and operated Grady's Printing Press more than 25 years. He attended First Baptist Church, and was a member of Odd Fellows and Rebekah lodges, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was awarded a Purple Heart.
Survivors include two daughters, Hazel Tidwell of Sikeston, Pat Fletcher of East Alton, Ill.; a stepson, Marshall Heisler of Sikeston; two brothers, J.D. Grady of Texas, Emerson Grady of Sears, Mich.; a sister, Polly McMullin of Plymouth, Mich.; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
