Thomas Cambron Brennecke, 62, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, June 14, 1998, at his home.

He had been ill for several years.

Brennecke was born March 16, 1936, at Cape Girardeau, son of L.R. and Mary Jane Benjamin Brennecke.

He and Janet Dowd were married Feb. 28, 1960, in St. Louis.

He is survived by two sons, Thomas Brennecke of Boca Raton, Fla., and Jeffrey Brennecke of St. Louis; a daughter, Christy Poike of St. Louis; three sisters, Julann Rentrop of Memphis, Tenn.; Jane Womack of Cape Girardeau and Emily Firebaugh of Farmington; and five grandsons.

He attended Washington Elementary School and graduated from Cape Girardeau Central High School in 1954, where he lettered in football.

He attended Southeast Missouri State University and earned all-conference honors in the MIAA conference in track and football. He was graduated in 1959. He lettered in each sport four years.

He was a former member of the Missouri National Guard and Old St. Vincent's Catholic Church. He also was a past member of the Cape Girardeau Jaycees.

Brennecke worked as a pharmaceutical salesman for Bristol-Myers and Lederle from 1960 to 1972. He then worked for Martin-Marietta in computer sales and for the Missouri Lottery.

Public visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.

A private family service will be held Tuesday, with the Rev. Randy Trochtrop officiating. Private burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery.
