Thomas Brashear, 73, departed his life Monday, Sept. 2, 2024, at Ratliff Care Center in Cape Girardeau
He was born March 2, 1952, in Sikeston to Clarence “Pack” Brashear and Sherma Nation Brashear.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in the Vietnam War, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post No. 5368 in Morley. He was a former employee of the carpenters union in Cape Girardeau and a self-employed carpenter until his retirement.
On July 15, 1970, he was united in marriage to Sharon Menz in Cape Girardeau. She survives of the home in Oran.
Besides his wife, survivors include two sons, Tony Brashear and Travis Brashear, both of Oran; one sister, Sondra (Charles) Trankler of Oran; six grandchildren, Joey, Jake, Alexa, Caroline, Tyler and Colten; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Dick and Danny Brashear.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, at Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Oran.
Graveside services will be conducted at a later date, with full military services.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
