Thirman "Drake" White, 80, of Jackson passed away Monday, March 13, 2006, at the Monticello House in Jackson, where he had resided for the past week.

He was born Jan. 13, 1926, in Randles, Mo., son of the late Harley L. and Vergie V. Skaggs White. He and Maxine Godwin Comer were married April 10, 1971, in Jackson.

Drake owned and operated several service stations in Cape Girardeau from 1955 to 1987. He began his career at the former Colonial Tavern Service Station, located at the intersection of Broadway and Kingshighway. Other locations included the former Simpson Oil Co., the former Zephyr Oil Co., and the former Sinclair Station at Main and Broadway. He concluded his career with the Standard Station at Harmony and Broadway, and the former Rusby Seabaugh Standard Station at Broadway and Caruthers.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Jackson, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Loving survivors include his wife of nearly 35 years; a son, David (Brenda) White of Chaffee, Mo.; a daughter, Carolyn (Wes) Campbell of Cape Girardeau; five grandsons, Danny, Michael, and Corey Campbell, David and Mitchel White; four great-grandsons; and five great-granddaughters.

Also surviving is a brother, Leonard White of Detroit, Mich.; seven nieces; and 12 nephews.

He was preceded in death by six brothers, two sisters and a grandson.

Friends may call today from 4 to 8 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.

The funeral will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Carter Frey officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
