Theresa Elizabeth Hale, 83, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
She was born Aug. 16, 1917, at Festus, Mo., daughter of Joseph and Rose Dietrich Axtetter. She and Lemro F. Hale were married March 1, 1938, at Festus. He died March 10, 1996.
Hale moved to Cape Girardeau in 1954 from Bonne Terre, Mo. She owned and operated Hale's Jewelry, which is still operated by a son, Joe.
She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella in Bonne Terre, charter member and first secretary of St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary and a member of River Hills Garden Club and PEO Chapter GF.
Hale was past president of Daughters of Isabella at St. Mary's Cathedral and Tri Psi.
Survivors include three sons, Ronald and Larry Hale of Cape Girardeau, Joe Hale of Jackson, Mo.; two daughters, Jeannie Poe of Cape Girardeau, Mary Hardy of Goldvein, Va.; two brothers, Bill North of Festus, Bob North of Rolla, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. Sunday. Parish prayers will be at 7, followed by Knights of Columbus rosary by Council 1111.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Vincent's Church, with the Rev. Milton Ryan officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
