Theodore Steele

ULLIN, Ill. -- Theodore Steele, 79, of Ullin died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Nov. 12, 1926, in Tamms, Ill., son of Charlie and Leora Porter Steele. He married Pauline Ferrell, who preceded him in death. He later married Rosemary Modicue, who died Jan. 5, 2006.

Steele retired in 1988 as a crane operator with LTV Steel Mill, and moved to Ullin. He attended the Israelite Bible Class.

Survivors include six sons, Phillip of Chicago, Rodrick of Cape Girardeau, Darrell of Washington, N.C., Randy of Charleston, Mo., Donnie and Bruce of Pulaski, Ill.; three daughters, Onetta Heard of Chicago, Carolyn Marable of Tamms, Connie Wesley of Ullin; two sisters, Claudetter Jordan of Tamms, Jewel Rouse of University Park, Ill.; three brothers, Ozia and Bob Steele of Tamms, Tilmer Steele of Matteson, Ill.; 23 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, four sisters and a grandson.

Friends may call at Massie Funeral Home in Mounds, Ill., from 10 a.m. to service time Saturday.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in West Side Cemetery at Ullin.
