CHAFFEE -- Thelma Montgomery, 86, of Chaffee died Wednesday, July 15, 1998, at her home.
She was born Feb. 7, 1912, in Tuckerman, Ark., daughter of Pleasant Howell and Theresa Goatcher Bowden. She and Troy E. Montgomery were married May 3, 1933. He died Dec. 8, 1991.
Montgomery was an elementary school teacher for 33 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Retired Teachers Association of Missouri, Business and Professional Women and former member of Chaffee Order of Eastern Star Chapter 48.
Survivors include a son, Troy Montgomery of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Mary Arendt of Imperial; a sister, Kathryn Montgomery of Chaffee; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gerald Collier officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens near Morley.
