Thelma Vivian Howard, 92, of Cape Girardeau passed away Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003, at Ratliff Care Center in Cape Girardeau, where she had lived the past six years.
She was born March 28, 1911, in Oriole, Mo., daughter of Charles and Cora Edwards Young. She and Marvin Howard were married Dec. 19, 1931, in Jackson. He passed away July 27, 1960.
Thelma worked five years in food services at Southeast Missouri Hospital and 10 years as a supply clerk at St. Francis Medical Center, retiring in 1978. She was a member of Maple United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau.
Loving survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Diane (Wiggins) and Donald Simpher of Cape Girardeau; a daughter-in-law, Ann Howard of Cape Girardeau; two grandsons, Tim Wiggins of Pocahontas, Mark Howard and his wife, Michelle, of Cape Girardeau; and a granddaughter, Melody Mathis and husband Steve of Jackson.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Richard Howard; a son-in-law, Bob Wiggins, two brothers, Norman and Harold Young; two sisters, Betty Swindell and Inez Rickard.
Friends may call after 12:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18, at the McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Charles J. Lance officiating.
Burial will be in New Bethel Cemetery near Pocahontas.
