Thelma Hasty

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Thelma Hasty, 89, of Sikeston died Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at York Place in Bertrand, Missouri.

She was born Feb. 27, 1926, in Ardeola, Missouri, to Samuel Harvey and Gertie Lea Summers Mason. She and Herb Hasty were married Oct. 30, 1954, in Bell City, Missouri. He preceded her in death June 6, 2010.

Thelma was a member of Garden Ridge General Baptist Church. She was a cook and kitchen manager 22 years at Sikeston public schools.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Darrell and Jeannie Chapman of Chaffee, Missouri, and Lynn and Marilyn Hasty of Sikeston; two daughters, Diane Miller of Mountain Home, Arkansas, and Terri Hurley of Sikeston; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers; two sisters; and two sons-in-law, Bo Hurley and Clint Miller.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of service Sunday at Ponder Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bill Fox, pastor of Garden Ridge General Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Gravel Hill Cemetery near Bloomfield, Missouri.
