Thelma Gohn, 83, of Millersville died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2015, at her home.

She was born Oct. 15, 1931, in Hanceville, Alabama, to John A. and Jura Nichols Day.

She and Dayton Gohn were married May 26, 1951, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hanceville. He passed away June 17, 2011.

She and her husband farmed in the Neelys Landing area until 1985. She graduated at the top of her class from respiratory therapist school at the age of 52. Thelma worked at Doctors Regional Hospital in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, for 16 years, retiring in 2000.

She was a member of Hanover Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau and a former Sunday school teacher at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.

Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn (Andrew) Klipfel of Millersville; a son, John (Debbie) Gohn of Jackson; two grandchildren, Sarah Overton and Melanie Klipfel; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Claude Day of Hanceville; and two sisters, Mary Burns of Hanceville and Laraine Stewart of Birmingham, Alabama.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a grandson, Donovan Gohn; four brothers; and one sister.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hanover Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Tony Kobak and Vicar Andrew Cave officiating. Entombment will be at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Memorial contributions may be given to Hanover Lutheran Church Building Fund or Hanover Lutheran Church General Improvement Fund.
