Thelma E. Bollinger, 83, of Jackson passed away Sunday, March 18, 2018, at Life Care Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Sept. 8, 1934, at Patton, Missouri, the daughter of James "Luther" and Flora Adeline Mayfield Cook. She and Bobby Ray Bollinger were married Oct. 14, 1953, at Little Whitewater Baptist Church near Patton. He passed away Jan. 11, 2006.
Thelma was a lifelong member of Little Whitewater Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Patton High School. She worked as a cook for 16 years at the Sedgewickville (Missouri) School and four years at the Meadow Heights School at Patton before retiring in 1989.
Thelma loved to quilt, enjoyed gardening and was the happiest when her family was around; she never complained.
Loving survivors include a son, Rodney R. (Sandy) Bollinger of Leonard, Texas; two daughters, Deborah (Kenneth) Lee of Fredericktown, Missouri, and Susan "Susie" (Joey) Davis of Marble Hill, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Tracy (Dan) Carlton, Brittany Kozal (fiance, Chris Erker), Ryan (Heather) Lee, Justin Bollinger, Rebecca (Chris Ennenga) Randolph, Valerie (Bobby) Hicks and Jeremy (McKaylla) Harris; and 18 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband of 52 years, she was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Melba Fulbright; and three brothers, Russell Cook Sr., Lynwood Cook and Arthur Cook.
Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Don Estes officiating. Interment will follow in Pulliam Cemetery near Scopus, Missouri.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Pulliam Cemetery.
