TAMMS, Ill. -- Thelma Baldwin, 86, of Millstadt, Ill., formerly of Tamms, died Sunday, May 6, 2001, at her home.
She was born Oct. 30, 1914, in Alexander County, in Illinois, the daughter of Ephriam and Mary Isabelle Rhymer Groves. She and Walter Baldwin were married Feb. 27, 1954. He died Aug. 12, 1989.
Survivors include four daughters Mary Burchyett of McClure, Ill., Ruby Theis of Millstadt, Vickie Mayberry of Jonesboro, Ill., and Debra Black of Chicago; two sons, Larry Bartlett of Jackson, Mo., and Kenneth Darnell of Kingston, Tenn.; three stepsons, Howard Baldwin of Wheaton, Mo., Robert Baldwin of Rockford, Ill., and Glenn Baldwin of Dixon, Ill.; three sisters, Bertha Benefield of Gale, Ill., Freda Dirden of Oildale, Calif., and Lucille Theis of Dongola, Ill.; a brother, Clyde Groves of Thebes, Ill.; 42 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, a daughter and a stepdaughter.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms.
Service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Melton Nelms and Bill Joyce officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.
