The Rev. James M. Harris, 84, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, May 10, 2004, on Interstate 57 at Buckley, Ill.
He was born April 10, 1920, at Grand Chain, Ill., son of Mark and Nettie Barnett Harris. He married Essie Berry, who died May 11, 2004.
Mr. Harris retired as a truck driver for Wykoff Steel in Chicago. He was an associate pastor at New Horizon Missionary Baptist Church.
He served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include six sons, Vincent L. Harris and David J. Harris of Chicago, Mackey M. Harris and Marvin E. Harris of Minneapolis, Minn., James C. Harris of Palmdale, Calif., Erick Harris of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Tiffany Harris of Cape Girardeau; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel, and 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Greater Dimension Church.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, with Bishop William Bird officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery with full military honors.
