SIKESTON, Mo. -- Tharon Eugene Stallings, 94, of Sikeston died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003, at his home.
He was born Oct. 25, 1909, at Morley, Mo., son of Charles A. and Ella Tomlinson Stallings. He and Tylene Kendall were married Sept. 1, 1934, at Fredericktown, Mo. She died Aug. 12, 1993.
Stallings was a teacher and administrator in Sikeston schools for 20 years. He also operated an insurance and real estate business for 20 years and was one of the partners in the Sikeston Auction Company. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sikeston for nearly 60 years. Stallings served as past president of the Sikeston Lions Club and was a former member of the Sikeston Jaycees.
Survivors include a son, Kendall Stallings of St. Louis; a granddaughter, Laura Stallings of St. Louis; and a sister, Eloise Dixon of Texas.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
A private family service was conducted Saturday at Sikeston City Cemetery, with the Rev. Lee Fansler officiating. Nunnelee Funeral Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
