Ted Fedler, 47, 701 N. Lorimier, died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 1995, at John Cochran Veterans Administration Medical Center in St. Louis from complications related to AIDS.
He was born Dec. 1, 1947, son of Edmund and Delores Fedler of West Point, Iowa.
Fedler was founder and coordinator of the AIDS Project of Southeast Missouri Inc. and was the Southeast Missouri representative to the Ryan White Statewide Advisory Board.
He also was an executive board member of the Cape Girardeau NAACP and a certified instructor with the American Red Cross Missouri/Illinois HIV/AIDS Education Network.
Fedler worked several years in law enforcement in Iowa and later was security administrator at the World Trade Center complex in Dallas.
Survivors include his companion, Travis Clayton of Cape Girardeau; his parents; eight sisters, Connie Ferrell of Fairfield, Iowa, Pat Becker of Fort Madison, Iowa, Mary Toben of Stockport, Iowa, and Agnes Anderson and Susan Gelsthorpe, both of Donnellson, Iowa, Kathy Hedger of Panama City, Fla., Christine Olson of Sherman, Texas, and Lori Humphrey of South Sioux City, Neb.; six brothers, Mark Fedler of Danville, Iowa, Steven Fedler of Des Moines, Iowa, John Fedler of Kent, Ohio, Chuck Fedler of Kettering, Ohio, Tim Fedler of LaSalle, Mich., and Ed Fedler of Chicago.
There will be a memorial service at 7 p.m. Monday at the Newman Center Campus Ministry, 512 N. Pacific, on the Southeast Missouri State University campus.
