SIKESTON, Mo. — Ted Carbaugh, son of the late Harry Curtis Sr. and Tila Louise Letempt Carbaugh, was born Sept. 8, 1953, in East St. Louis, Illinois, and departed his life Sunday, Jan. 29, 2023, at Sikeston Convalescent Center at the age of 69 years.

Ted was a 1972 graduate of Illmo-Scott City High School, where he was a four-sport letterman in football, basketball, track and baseball. He was honorable mention All-State infielder in baseball.

He was an avid goose and duck hunter and fisherman. He worked for Luhr Brothers and Tower Stone Quarry.

Ted is survived by two sons, Clayton (Sarah) Carbaugh and their children, Sophie and Stella of Sikeston, and Jason (Nicole) Carbaugh and their children, Shelby and Tyler of Paragould, Arkansas; and three sisters, Harriet (Jack) Webb, Ruth Ann Carbaugh and Rebecca (Donnie) DeBrodie, all of Jefferson City, Missouri.

Besides his parents, Ted was preceded in death by a brother, Curtis Carbaugh Jr., and a nephew, Trenton Carbaugh.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, at the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Mark Carbaugh officiating. Interment will follow at Lightner Cemetery in Scott City.
