VANDUSER, Mo. -- Tanya Kay Monroe, 62, of Vanduser died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2018, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Nov. 11, 1955 in Sikeston, Missouri, to B.T. and Phyllis Pigman Johnson. She and Tim "Termite" Monroe were married July 26, 1980, at Evangelical United Church of Christ in Cape Girardeau. He preceded her in death Feb. 26, 2007.
She was a graduate of Scott County Central High School in 1974 and Southeast Missouri State University, from which she received bachelor degrees in business education in 1978 and agribusiness in 1979.
Tanya worked for the former Production Credit Association in Sikeston. She was currently serving as city clerk in Morley, Missouri.
She attended Morley Baptist Church and was active in Morley Community Betterment Committee. She was formerly active with Cape Girardeau Jaycees and PTO at Scott County Central.
Survivors include her mother, Phyllis Johnson of Vanduser; two daughters, Jaci (Dennis) Monroe of Morley and Stacy Nicole (Eric) Vinson of Charleston, Missouri; a son, Chris Monroe of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Tony Johnson of Vanduser; four grandchildren, Mackenzie, Jacob, Abigail and Emalyn; and honorary sons and daughters.
She was preceded in death by her father and husband.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Thompson officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
