Syvilla M. Hobbs, 86, of 522 S. Middle St. in Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Jan. 5, 1995, at Memorial Medical Center in Jacksonville, Fla.
She was born March 23, 1908, in Egypt Mills, the daughter of Fred and Anna Niedling Brockmire.
She was married to Marion Hobbs, who survives in Cape Girardeau.
During WWII, she worked as a welder and shipfitter in Vallejo, Calif., and also worked at a garment factory in Illmo.
She had lived in Cape Girardeau since 1980 after moving from Chicago, where she had lived 25 years. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include one daughter-in-law, Patsy Hobbs, Jacksonville, Fla.; two brothers, Frank Brockmire of Cape Girardeau and Dan Brockmire of Collinsville, Ill.; one sister, Mary Wilhite of Cape Girardeau; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A son, Gerald Hobbs, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Ford & Sons Mount Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral service will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the funeral chapel, with the Rev. David V. Dissen of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum.
