DEXTER -- Funeral for Sylvia Daisy Maddox of Dexter will be held at 1 p.m. today at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. The Rev. Greg Stevens will officiate. Burial will be in Rock Hill Cemetery near Puxico.
Maddox, 83, died Saturday, April 22, 2000, at her home.
She was born March 28, 1917, at Fisk, daughter of John and Lucy Berry Umfleet. She and Clarence V. Maddox were married June 9, 1936. He died Sept. 10, 1987.
Formerly of Texas, she was a member of the Church of Christ in Kermit. She was a retired deli and hospital cook. She had lived at Dexter since 1988.
Survivors include a son, Don Maddox of Dexter; five daughters, Linda Pruden of St. Ann, Glenda Higgins of Houston, Texas, Patricia Ruch of Barnhart, Dorothy Starkey and Peggy Leasure of St. Louis; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
