ADVANCE -- Funeral service for Sylvia H. Johnson of Union, formerly of Advance, was held May 18 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Union. The Rev. Donald Fraker officiated, with burial in St. Paul Cemetery. Oltmann Funeral Home there was in charge of arrangements.
Johnson, 75, died suddenly Wednesday, May 15, 1991, at a hospital in Washington, Mo.
She was born Sept. 3, 1915, near Bell City, daughter of Joseph C. and Ina Smith Allen. She married William Herman Johnson Sept. 15, 1934, at Tillman.
Johnson was an accomplished quilter and flower gardener. She was a member of St. Paul Church and its Ladies Aid, an extension club, and the senior citizens group in Union.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Gerald Johnson of Mountain Home, Ark.; a daughter, Patty Schaeg of Union; a sister, Opal Johnson of Advance; two half brothers, Donald McKee of Dyersburg, Tenn., Kermit McKee of Gruver, Texas; a step brother, Floyd McKee of Dexter; two step sisters, Mae Dixon of Dexter, Mable Malone of Galesburg, Ill.; nine grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
