SIKESTON -- Sylvia E. Mayer, 84, of Sikeston, died Thursday, Oct. 15, 1992, at Miner Nursing Center.
She was born Nov. 22, 1907, in Marion, Ill., daughter of Walter and Gertie White. She and Arthur Edward Mayer were married July 8, 1929. He died Aug. 29, 1979.
Mayer was a member of First Baptist Church of Sikeston, and an officer of the Ser and Chat Club for Needy Children.
Survivors include a son, Greg Mayer of Sikeston; a brother, Elbert White of San Diego, Calif.; three sisters, Gwen Huckabay of Sanger, Calif., Ida Kepner of Los Angeles, Calif., Melba Robb of Susanville, Calif., and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Ponder Funeral Home. The Rev. Jim Guffie will officiate, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-7 p.m. Saturday.
