PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Sylvia Mathilda Lintner Boxdorfer, 90, formerly of Perryville, passed away Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021. She was born on the family farm near Perryville Feb. 26, 1930. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar J. "Boots" and Zita Hulda Bohnert Lintner; husband, Hubert G. PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Sylvia Mathilda Lintner Boxdorfer, 90, formerly of Perryville, passed away Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021. She was born on the family farm near Perryville Feb. 26, 1930.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar J. "Boots" and Zita Hulda Bohnert Lintner; husband, Hubert G. Boxdorfer; son, Mark (Pam) Boxdorfer; daughter, Janet (Rick) Schmidt; and two brothers, Gerald and Earl Lintner.

Sylvia married Hubert G. Boxdorfer at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville on June 24, 1951. They were married 63 years before his death Dec. 2, 2014.

She is survived by a granddaughter, Wilhelmina Schmidt; two grandsons, Elijah (Tiffany) Schmidt and Tyler (Carolyn) Abide; great-grandchildren, Olive and Otis Abide; brother, Lloyd (Edna) Lintner; and sisters-in-law, Virginia and Debora Lintner.

Also surviving are brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Al (Mary) Boxdorfer, the late Marvin (Ruth) Boxdorfer, Richard (Ruth Ann) Boxdorfer, Tom (Reva) Boxdorfer, Clara Hall, the late Ervin (Jeannie) Boxdorfer, the late Judy (Walter) Holmes, the late Dan (Patty) Boxdorfer, Milford (the late Joyce) Boxdorfer, and Ollie (Lynn) Boxdorfer; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and numerous cousins.

Sylvia grew up near Perryville and graduated from Perryville High School, Class of 1948. Later she attended Belleville (Illinois) Area College.

She began her civil service career at Langley Air Force Base, Virginia, in 1953 and returned to Missouri upon her husband's return to civilian life. They moved to Caseyville, Illinois, in 1957. The St. Louis District, Corps of Engineers was her next job until she took a 16-year break from civil service, and then spent 17 years at Scott AFB in Illinois. In September 2002, Sylvia retired as secretary in the Headquarters AMC Command Surgeon's Office. She served as an election judge for 33 years and the Republican Precinct 7 Committee Woman from 2010 to 2018.

Her interests included family, quilting, sewing, knitting, crocheting, reading and her computer.

She was a member of Caseyville United Methodist Church and the quilting group. She was also a member of NARFE (National Association of Retired Federal Employees).

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Lake View Funeral Home in Fairview Heights, Illinois.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be private in Lake View Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Caseyville United Methodist Church.
