Susie Nelson

ANNA, Ill. -- Susie Nelson, 99, of Anna died Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, at Jonesboro Healthcare Center in Jonesboro, Ill.

She was born Dec. 13, 1904, daughter of Ham and Effie Bridges. She and Monroe Nelson were married Oct. 9, 1920, in Union County. He died in 1972.

Nelson was a member of Big Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, James "Strawberry" Nelson of Anna; a brother, Thomas Bridges of Marion, Ill.; a sister, Edna Lipe; four grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, a brother and a sister.

Friends may call at Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro from 11 a.m. until time of service.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Richard Pearce officiating. Burial will be in Big Creek Cemetery.
