Suenell Freese, 86, formerly of Jackson, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2005, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. She was born Nov. 6, 1918, in the Neelys Landing community, daughter of Willis Wissman and Willie Marie Noland Sams. She was a 1935 graduate of the former Fruitland High School. She and Clemens L. "Clem" Freese were married April 11, 1936, in Cape Girardeau. He passed away Jan. 16, 2003...

Suenell Freese, 86, formerly of Jackson, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2005, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Nov. 6, 1918, in the Neelys Landing community, daughter of Willis Wissman and Willie Marie Noland Sams. She was a 1935 graduate of the former Fruitland High School. She and Clemens L. "Clem" Freese were married April 11, 1936, in Cape Girardeau. He passed away Jan. 16, 2003.

A loving mother and homemaker, Suenell was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson and its St. Ann's Sodality. Her community and civic interests included leadership in the former Westside 4-H Club, a former member of the Campster and Seek and Find homemakers clubs, a Democratic committeewoman for Fruitland Township, a founding member of the Carpenters Women's Auxiliary 1770 in Cape Girardeau, chairwoman of the fine arts exhibit at the SEMO District Fair, and a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Cape Girardeau.

Loving survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Sharon Freese of Jackson; two daughters and a son-in-law, Norma and Ben Cooper of Lake St. Louis, Mo., Jan Freese of Richmond Heights, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Keith and Steve Cooper, Nancy Ledbetter, Tara Freese, Kristi Deneke, Lindsey Campbell and Jackie Nettleton; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.

The family extends a special note of recognition to the staff of the Lutheran Resident Center West and the 300 unit of the Lutheran Nursing Home, for the care, concern and affection given to Suenell during her three-year residence there.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. Monsignor Edward Eftink will lead parish prayers at 4 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with Monsignor Eftink officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Immaculate Conception Building Fund or charity of your choice.
