Wyonia S. “Sue” Poe Wallman, 82, peacefully passed away Friday, April 26, 2024, surrounded by her family, at her home in Pocahontas.
She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister and friend.
She was born Feb. 23, 1942, in Bollinger County to Veatris Everett “V.E.” and Eula Scott Poe. Sue was raised in the Scopus area. Sue and Melvin Wilbert Wallman were married Nov. 4, 1962.
While raising their five children, Sue was a full-time homemaker and mother. After only 15 years of marriage, Melvin passed away Nov. 14, 1977.
After Melvin’s passing, Sue worked several years at the shoe factory in Jackson, and later retired from Lee Rowan in Jackson. Sue loved to stay busy and was active her entire life.
To cherish her memory, she leaves five children, Rodger Wallman of Pocahontas, Tony (Sandy) Wallman of Marble Hill, and Bobby, Patty and Dennis Wallman, all of Pocahontas; 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren (including three sets of twins); and a sister, Frances (Gary) Beal of Marble Hill.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Robert and Everett Poe; and sisters, Glenda Potter, Mable Brannon, Joseta Poe and Jovata Odom.
A life celebration will be held at noon Saturday, May 11, at her home in Pocahontas.
McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation was entrusted with Sue’s cremation arrangements.
