CAIRO, Ill. -- Sue Shemwell, 61, of Cairo passed away Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015, at her home.
She was born Dec. 13, 1953, in Cairo, daughter of the late Eugene and Mozelle Wallace Campbell.
Sue was a member of Mighty Rivers Worship Center in Cairo, and was a former coach of its Upward Basketball. She was a co-owner of Shemwell's BBQ.
Survivors include her husband, Darrell R. Shemwell of Cairo; a daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Bubba Davis of Cairo; a son, Dustin (Jessica) Shemwell of Jackson; three grandchildren, Trae Davis, Callie and Miles Shemwell; a great-granddaughter, Kimberly N. Davis; three sisters, Linda (Bobby) Gibson of Grand Chain, Illinois, Connie (Terry) Greer of LaGrange, Kentucky, and Debbie (Brad) Thomas of Stonefort, Illinois; a brother, Mike (Cindy) Campbell of Cache, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Heather Nicole Davis, in 2013.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge, Illinois, and from 9 a.m. until service time Friday at Mighty Rivers Worship Center.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the church, with Dr. Larry Potts officiating. Interment will be in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens at Villa Ridge.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorials to Upward Basketball of Mighty Rivers Worship Center in Cairo.
