Effie Sue Blumenberg, 80, of Whitewater passed away Thursday, May 31, 2018, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born Jan. 27, 1938, in Lawrence County, Alabama, to the late John L. and Geneva Grissom McDougal. Sue and Norman Blumenberg were married July 5, 1953, in Iuka, Mississippi. Effie Sue Blumenberg, 80, of Whitewater passed away Thursday, May 31, 2018, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Jan. 27, 1938, in Lawrence County, Alabama, to the late John L. and Geneva Grissom McDougal. Sue and Norman Blumenberg were married July 5, 1953, in Iuka, Mississippi. He preceded her in death Aug. 21, 1997.

Sue and Norman farmed in the Whitewater area for many years. She was a member of the Whitewater United Methodist Church.

Survivors include sons, Rodney O. and Wayne A. Blumenberg of Whitewater; daughter, Robyn (Rick) Draughon of Whitewater; five sisters, Lois Chaney of Decatur, Alabama, Myrlene Lafever of Hatton, Alabama, Marsha Roberts of Danville, Alabama, Cleo Brooks of Hatton and Methel Coleman of Decatur; and a grandson, Charles Joseph Draughon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister, Gledious Melson, and a brother, Clifton McDougal.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donald L. Kuehle officiating. Burial will follow at Whitewater United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Whitewater United Methodist Church.
