Sue Ann Austin

Sue Ann Austin, 68, of Cape Girardeau passed away Thursday, Nov. 18, 2021, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born June 10, 1953, in Topeka, Kansas, to the late Malcolm and Dorothy Nuss Brown.

Sue Ann and Michael Austin were married Dec. 28, 1974.

She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Sue Ann worked as a speech pathologist in the Cape Girardeau public school system, in nursing homes and at Southeast Hospital. She enjoyed singing in the Southeast Missouri State University choir, traveling, painting and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Michael Austin of Cape Girardeau; sons, Daniel (Raegan) Austin of Fruitland and Gabriel Austin of Cape Girardeau; sister, Marcia (the late Dalton) Darnell of Murray, Kentucky; grandchildren, Liam, Nora, Lea and Mika Austin.

Sue Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Jolene Fleming, and brother-in-law, Earl Fleming.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

Celebration of life service will follow at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. with the Rev. Rick Jones officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to National Kidney Foundation.
