Stoy G. "Coy" Coy, 90, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2010, at the Missouri Veterans Home.
He was born Oct. 23, 1920, in Shepherdsville, Ky., to Clarence and Pearl Beasley Coy. He and Grace Sailer were married May 21, 1944, in St. Louis.
Coy served with the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific and later during the Korean conflict.
He worked for Harris Motor Co., McDowell Motors, Rueseler Chevrolet and Brase Inc. He retired in 1985.
Coy enjoyed bowling, fishing, gardening and woodworking. He was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ, where he served as an usher and was on the Diaconate Board. He was a life member of VFW Post 3838 and past member of Elks.
Survivors include his wife, Grace Coy of Cape Girardeau; two sons, Randy Coy of Jackson, Donald (Carrie) Coy of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Melanie Coy of Jackson; five grandchildren, Mara Lee Coy of Cape Girardeau, Emily (James) Powell of Jackson, Jason Coy of Cape Girardeau, Bailey Clubb and Hayden Clubb of Cape Girardeau; two great-grandchildren, Trenton Powell of Jackson and Brayden Coy of Knoxville, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, three sisters and two children.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dan Johnson and the Rev. Ernie Jordan officiating. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum. Full military rites will be provided by Missouri Honors Team.
