SEDGEWICKVILLE, Mo. -- Steven Adam Januszewski, 63, of Sedgewickville left his country home Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, after a long illness.
He was born Nov. 29, 1949, in Chicago, to Alexander and Irene Sikorski Januszewski.
Steven moved to California in 1969, and retired from IBEW Local 952 in 1989. In 1990 he relocated to Southeast Missouri, where he was employed by MSI Electric and Rubbermaid in Jackson until 1999. He retired again, this time to the good life of hunting, fishing, cooking and relaxing with friends.
He was an endearing man who loved to cook for friends and neighbors who stopped in to visit. He often said the best thing that ever happened to him was moving to Missouri.
Survivors include a sister, Patricia Kamala; three brothers, Al, Arnie and Fred Januszewski; a son, Christopher Januszewski; two granddaughters, Zoey and Lyndsey Januszewski; three stepgrandchildren, Stephanie, Tiffany and Donald Buttelwerth; close friend and ex-wife, Barbara Sexton; along with many dear and treasured friends. His adored puppy Sugar (always by his side) and kitty Fuzz were both a large part of his life.
Recently his greatest joy was the routine visits by his granddaughter, Stephanie, who called to check on him and help with tasks he was no longer able to do himself. Steve always was willing to help anyone who asked or needed help.
He loved and was loved by his neighbors, friends and pets. His joy was living in the country, enjoying nature and making people smile. His humor, laugh and caring love for all of us will be deeply missed.
A service will be at a later date.
Liley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Steve requested no flowers but remembrance contributions may be made to Humane Society of Southeast Missouri.
