Steven Thomas Griffith, 70, of Cape Girardeau passed away Thursday, June 2, 2022, at his sister's home.
He was born Aug. 9, 1951, in Cape Girardeau, the third son and third child of five born to Paul and Elizabeth Lorraine "Betty" Hoffman Griffith.
Steve was united in marriage to Charlotte Simmons on May 10, 1985, in Cape Girardeau. She preceded him in death May 5, 2020. He was previously married to Martha Fulton Griffith and from this union, his daughter, Jennifer Griffith, was born.
He was raised in the Catholic faith, attending St. Mary Cathedral, serving as an alter boy, and was educated at St. Mary Cathedral School and graduated from Cape Central High School in 1969. Following his honorable discharge, he attended Northwestern University in Chicago, 1973 through 74. In 1974, he attained credentials as a Certified Orthotist from the American Board for Certification. At that time, Steve was the youngest person in the United States to be certified in orthotics by the American Board for Certification. He then joined the Griffith Co. family business. Griffith Co. later merged with Cape Prosthetics and Orthotics where Steve was employed until retirement.
Steve was a devoted husband and a generous and loving person. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing with his buddies. He was a great storyteller and many enjoyed hearing of his hilarious childhood escapades with his brothers and friends.
