CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Dr. Stephen P. Whistler, M.D., 62, of Chaffee died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2011, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born Nov. 3, 1948, in Perryville, Mo. to the late William John and Lillian Mary Bert Whistler Sr.
He married Vicki Davis on Feb. 8, 1969.
He served as a pathologist and assistant medical examiner in the Navy. He opened Chaffee Medical Arts with his wife in 1997.
He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church and was a Mason in Chaffee Masonic Lodge No. 615. Whistler's many hobbies included painting, playing guitar, astronomy and building airplanes.
Survivors include his wife, Vicki; daughter, Sara (Corey) Alexander of Spring, Texas; and granddaughters Lillian, Sophia and Isabel Alexander of Spring.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bill and Robert Whistler.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, with Masonic services at 7:30.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church with the Rev. Ralph Duffner officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery with full military honors by the Missouri Honors Team.
