Stephen Joyner

CAIRO, Ill. -- Stephen L. Joyner, 54, of Poolesville, Md., died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008, at his home.

He was born in Cairo, son of Harry C. and Helen Whitis Joyner.

Joyner was a 1970 graduate of Camelot Parochial School in Cairo and a graduate of the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.

He was employed by Marriott Corp. and had worked in Atlanta and at the Maryland corporate headquarters.

Survivors include a sister, Harriet Mize of Carterville, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Tigert Memorial United Methodist Church in Cairo, with the Rev. Kelly Cox officiating.

Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo is in charge of arrangements.
