Stephen T. Harris, 71, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born May 15, 1944, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Ernest and Joyce Ross Harris.

He and Susan E. Harris were married March 3, 1989, at Sikeston, Missouri.

He had been a member of the Masonic Lodge in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Stephen was a PGA pro for 30 years and had worked at several golf courses, including Bellerive in St. Louis; The Legends in Eureka, Missouri; Robert Trent Jones in Dothan, Alabama; and Bear Trace in Chattanooga, Tennessee, before coming to Cape Girardeau to work at the Cape Girardeau Country Club and Arena Golf. He was very involved with the Wounded Warriors Project.

He is survived by his wife, Susan E. Harris of Cape Girardeau; son, Ryan (Allison) Harris and their children, Will and Paige, of Fort Wayne; daughter, Mindy (Craig) Mathison and their children, Abigail, Lily and Carter of Fort Wayne; brother, Michael (Judy) Harris of Kansas City, Kansas; sister, Judy Brown of Minneapolis; stepchildren, Gregory, Ronald, Diane and Anthony Rattini and their eight children, all of St. Louis; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to the American Heart Association, 460 N. Lindbergh Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63141.
