Stephen Diebold

BENTON, Mo. -- Stephen W. Diebold, 81, of Benton died Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, at The Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Aug. 24, 1930, in Benton to Otto and Elizabeth Bertrand Diebold.

Diebold and Rosemary Glaus were married March 29, 1951, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in New Hamburg, Mo.

Mr. Diebold was a foreman at Florsheim Shoe Factory in Cape Girardeau and retired in 1992. He was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Benton.

Survivors include his wife, Rosemary Diebold of Benton; son, Stephen M. (Ruth) Diebold of Blue Springs, Mo.; daughters Valeria (David) Adams of Birch Tree, Mo., Cindy (Mike) Gotto of Farmington, Mo., Yvonne (Alan) Moore of Benton; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, daughter and three brothers.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Benton Chapel with parish prayers at 7 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Denis Catholic Church in Benton, with the Rev. Michael Casteel officiating. Burial will follow in St. Denis Catholic Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Denis School in Benton.
