Stella Prost, 81, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2019, at Chateau Girardeau Health Center.

She was born April 23, 1938, in Perryville, Missouri, to George and Pearl Blessing Dietrich. She and Carl L. Prost were married May 19, 1956, at St. Mary's of the Barrens Church in Perryville.

Stella was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and women's council in Cape Girardeau. She was also a volunteer and auxiliary member of Saint Francis Medical Center for 21 years. She also volunteered for the Project Charlie program for several years.

Survivors include her husband, Carl Prost of Cape Girardeau; sons, Rick C. (Rebecca) Prost of Cape Girardeau and Robert (Diane) Prost of Chesterfield, Missouri; brothers, Robert (Linda) Dietrich and Roger Dietrich, both of Florissant, Missouri; grandchildren, Jennifer (Ryan) Austin of Cape Girardeau, Jeff (Rachel) Prost of St. Louis, Brian (Cristah) Prost of Bethesda, Maryland, David Prost of New York and Luke Prost of Nashville, Tennessee; great-granddaughters, Lily Mohundro, Josie Austin and Ava Austin of Cape Girardeau; and great-grandson, Lucas Prost of St. Louis.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, James Prost; brother-in-law, Glennon (Mary Ann) Prost; and sisters-in-law, Dolores (Bernard) Queathem and Jane Dietrich.

The body will be cremated.

Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m., with a memorial Mass to follow at 10 a.m., Saturday at St. Vincent Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau. Private interment will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Memorial contributions may be given to Saint Francis Hospice.
