Stella Moeckel

MURPHYSBORO, Ill. -- Stella S. Moeckel, 96, of Murphysboro died Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, at Chester Memorial Hospital in Chester, Ill.

She was born Sept. 26, 1905, in Jacob, Ill., daughter of Emanuel and Martha Boehme Bellmann. She and Herbert G. Moeckel were married Feb. 18, 1928, in St. Louis. He died May 16, 1981.

Mrs. Moeckel was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Neunert, Ill., and former member of the Dorcas Society. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a daughter and spouse, Janice and Dr. J.C. Bright of Ste. Genevieve, Mo.; a son and spouse, Shirley and Hazel Moeckel of Murphysboro; a daughter-in-law, Loretta Moeckel of Perryville, Mo.; two sisters-in-law, Ruby Bellmann of Durango, Colo., Hattie Schlimpert of Jacob; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Dr. Russell J. Moeckel; two brothers; and two sisters.

Friends may call at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday and at Christ Lutheran Church Thursday after 10 a.m.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Christ Lutheran Church. Pastor Mike Kettner will officiate. Burial will be in Christ Lutheran Cemetery in Jacob.
